About the Firm
Ford Equity Research is an independent investment research firm delivering unbiased, high-quality fundamental data, stock selection models, stock ratings, and analytical tools to investors. For nearly 40 years, Ford Equity Research has provided a full range of quantitative resources designed to assist investors in making more informed, more efficient investment decisions.
Ford Equity Research believes that trends in a company's earnings per share are the most important factors driving its stock price. For this reason, their proprietary analysis focuses on using operating earnings per share (collected and adjusted by a team of analysts) to measure growth rate changes and relative valuation. Using stock price momentum as an additional input into analysis helps to confirm individual stock ratings.
Methodology
The Ford Equity Research methodology combines earnings strength, relative valuation and price movement into a single recommendation.
The Ford Equity Research process is built on the recognition that the combined characteristics of a positive change in operating earnings per share, attractive relative valuation, and a price trend that supports further appreciation are indicative of superior performance. As a result, the Ford Equity Research recommendation uses earnings momentum - defined as the historical and expected future trend of operating earnings - combined with the relative valuation of the company, as the primary measure of attractiveness. Ford's price momentum ranking, which incorporates historical price performance, further supports the recommendation. When all of these factors are very positive, a company will clearly rank highly using this method. However, because the rating system combines a number of factors, a stock will sometimes be attractive enough in one category to outweigh a neutral or negative indication in another category.
