Anthropic Plans IPO: Direxion Single-Stock ETF to Follow

Anthropic has taken a major step related to its proposed initial public offering expected for mid-November. The AI firm is behind the Claude chatbot that millions of people now rely on to come up with everything from recipes to work out plans. It could be landing in portfolios in just a couple weeks. The company filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 26. The filing detailed that it intends to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Market under the ticker ANT. The public offering is anticipated to catalyze a series of single-stock ETF launches from specialized firms like Direxion.Key Takeaways: Anthropic filed its S-1 on October 26, to list on the Nasdaq as ANT with up to a $2 trillion valuation. The massive offering could force institutions to trim megacap tech holdings, creating a supply shock for broad sector ETFs. Direxion filed for Bull 2X (ANTO) and Bear 2X (ANTD) single-stock ETFs to trade post-IPO price swings. In 2021, siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei, who both previously worked for OpenAI as researchers, founded Anthropic. The company now employs roughly 3,500 people and is headquartered in San Francisco, with additional major offices in New York, London, Seattle, and Washington. Anthropic’s ecosystem extends far beyond its well-known Claude chatbot. Its model lineup features multiple tiers tailored for specific tasks, ranging from lightweight assistants to enterprise-grade frontier models. Further, its developer tool, Claude Code, has become an essential asset for engineering teams writing and reviewing software.A Market EventThe upcoming IPO for Anthropic is shaping up to be one of the largest IPOs on record. With a valuation as high as $2 trillion on the table, the offering could prompt a significant reallocation of capital across equity markets, according to Direxion’s September 9 blog post. Institutions looking to build meaningful positions in ANT may need to fund them by trimming other holdings. The most likely sources are the megacap technology and AI stocks that have dominated portfolios in recent years. That shift could create a supply shock for the sector. It’s worth watching for investors in broad tech and AI-focused ETFs. Those funds concentrate heavily in those same names. Anthropic’s IPO is unprecedented. To put that into perspective: The company is reportededly targeting a raise that would match or exceed SpaceX’s, according to the Direxion blog post. This would mark the first time in market history that the two largest offerings occurred within a mere four-month window.Direxion Targets Anthropic IPO With Leveraged Bull & Bear ETFsFor active traders looking to navigate those immediate post-IPO price swings and liquidity crunches, product pipelines are already locked and loaded. Direxion filed with the SEC on October 26 to launch two new products, the Direxion Daily Anthropic Bull 2X ETF (ANTO) and the Direxion Daily Anthropic Bear 2X ETF. Once they go live, ANTO will seek daily investment results, before fees and expenses, of 200% of the daily performance of the common stock of Anthropic, and ANTD will seek daily investment results, before fees and expenses, of 200% of the inverse (-200%) of that performance. Both ETFs will launch with an expense ratio of 0.99%. They should begin trading shortly after Anthropic completes its IPO and its shares begin trading, subject to SEC effectiveness. Previously, Direxion rolled out two ETFs tied to the SpaceX IPO, the Direxion Daily SpaceX Bear 2X ETF (LOFD) and the Direxion Daily SpaceX Bull 2X ETF (LOFF), in August. LOFF seeks daily investment results of 200% of the inverse daily performance of SpaceX (SPCX). Meanwhile, LOFD seeks the inverse of that same performance. For more news, information, and analysis, visit the Leveraged & Inverse Content Hub.
