Preparing Your Fixed Income Allocation for 2025

The yield on the 10-year Treasury bond was back above 4% as of mid-October, after nearing 3.6% just a few weeks earlier. It is a challenge to understand where the yield will be by year end, let alone in 2025. As advisors look to prepare the 2025 fixed income allocation of client portfolios, they might need some help.On Oct. 24, VettaFi will bring together more than a dozen fixed income experts virtually. For nearly three hours we will talk about interest rates, why to move out of cash and into bonds, where to take on credit risk, and more. The Q4 Fixed Income Symposium will feature 20 minute discussions led by VettaFi Voices Cinthia Murphy, Kirsten Chang, and myself, with a roster of experts. Here’s a sense of what you will be a part of when you register and join over 600 of your pre-registered peers (there will be a replay for those who register but can’t catch it live). How to Navigate the Interest Rate EnvironmentAt 11:05 a.m. ET, I will kick things off with David Braun of PIMCO and Brian Quigley of Vanguard. Braun manages the PIMCO Active Bond ETF (BOND B) and other funds, while Quigley is co-manager for the Vanguard Core Bond ETF (VCRB A) and the Vanguard Core Plus Bond ETF (VPLS A). The three of us will discuss the Fed’s next move and where the ETF managers are finding the best opportunities in the bond market.Taking on Risks in the Bond MarketAt 12:10 p.m., Kirsten Chang will speak with experts from American Century and Eaton Vance. They will explore where the rewards in the bond market outweigh the risks. She will be joined by Paul Norris, who helps manage the American Century Multi-Sector Floating Income ETF (FUSI A-) and the American Century Short Duration Strategic Income ETF (SDSI ). Also on the panel will be Brian Ellis. Ellis co-manages the Eaton Vance Total Return Bond ETF (EVTR ) and the Eaton Vance Short Duration Income ETF (EVSD ). Following this session, at 12:30 p.m., Cinthia Murphy will dive into the credit markets with experts from BondBloxx and Victory Capital. Joanne Binaco will highlight the targeted suite of investment grade and high yield ETFs BondBloxx offers. Those include the BondBloxx BBB Rated 5-10 Year Corporate Bond ETF (BBBI ) and the BondBloxx CCC Rated USD High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (XCCC ). Meanwhile, Kurt Daum of Victory Capital will review where he and his colleagues are finding credit opportunities for the VictoryShares Core Plus Intermediate Bond ETF (UBND C).Why to Consider Active Fixed IncomeI will return at 12:50 p.m. to moderate a discussion about the potential benefits of actively managed ETFs. My session will feature Matthew Wrzesniewsky of Goldman Sachs and Robert Larkins of T. Rowe Price. We will discuss ETFs such as the Goldman Sachs Access Ultra-Short Bond ETF (GSST ) and the T. Rowe Price QM U.S. Bond ETF (TAGG C+). Check out the agenda and roster of ETF and mutual fund speakers before reserving your spot for the event.
