AMD, Meta Power GAMR's Gaming Index as Capcom Joins

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) and Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) powered a September gain for the gaming index behind the Amplify Video Game Leaders ETF (GAMR C). On their own, they added 2.77 percentage points, slightly more than the index’s full monthly gain. On September 28, AMD agreed to buy World Labs, an AI lab led by Fei-Fei Li, according to AMD. The deal is valued at about $8.2 billion and will be paid in AMD stock rather than cash. World Labs builds AI models that create interactive 3D worlds from text, images and video. Meta shares climbed 26.8% over the same stretch, according to VettaFi. During the month, the company unveiled Meta VR Glasses at its Connect 2026 event, according to Meta. The company said the glasses serve as a personal cinema, workspace and gaming console while weighing about 100 grams. VettaFi’s figures show Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) rose 3.6%, while Roblox Corp. There, the publisher shared updates on “Mega Man: Dual Override” and “Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance,” both slated for 2027. Not every holding gained, though. Consumer discretionary stocks, which include console makers, fell 7.5%, VettaFi’s sector breakdown shows. Sea Limited (SE) dropped 14.2% and Nintendo Co. (7974:TKS) slid 10.2%, together subtracting 1.46 percentage points. As of October 1, AMD was GAMR’s largest holding at 9.49%, edging out Meta at 9.44% and Microsoft Corp.
