Income ETFs GPIQ, GPIX Up More Than Half Billion in a Month

Prices are rising, but investors continue to pay for retirement. Investors young and old have looked to income ETFs as solutions. Historically, bond funds provided the yield and income investors desired; options-based income ETFs now play that role. That has seen major inflows to income ETFs like the Goldman Sachs Nasdaq-100 Premium Income ETF (GPIQ A) and the Goldman Sachs S&P 500 Premium Income ETF (GPIX A).Key Takeaways: Income ETFs have exploded in popularity in recent years, with GPIQ and GPIX standing out in 2026. The pair of funds have seen about $4.5 billion in net AUM growth in the last 12 months. That pairs with solid YTD returns and income to help portfolios deliver. The duo have picked up major inflows in just the last month. Per ETF Database data, they have added $600 and $500 million in inflows, respectively. That represents significant percentages of their AUM, which now both sit at around $6.3 billion. Intriguingly, both funds have seen massive overall AUM growth in the last 12 months, up around $4.5 billion in that time. The pair of funds each charge 29 basis points for their respective approaches. Both take largely the same active strategy with a difference of underlying index. GPIQ actively invests in Nasdaq-100 stocks and then sells call options on 25-75% of those investments. Its managers look to maintain much of the characteristics of the Nasdaq-100 while adding that income. It can also use FLEX options and add some dividend income, as well. GPIX, meanwhile, does the same, with the S&P 500.Both ETFs Offer an Appealing DuoTogether, that combination of ETFs offers both capital appreciation and income. The pair have returned 15.9% and 13.8%, respectively, YTD, according to ETF Database data. Per Goldman Sachs data, GPIQ provided a 9.86% 12-month trailing distribution rate as of September 30. Meanwhile, GPIX provided an 8.17% 12-month trailing distribution rate as of the same date.
