Sell on the Pop Prospects: November 4 Edition

Here is a look at ETFs that currently offer attractive short selling opportunities. The ETFs included in this list are rated as sell candidates for two reasons. First, each of these funds is deemed to be in a downtrend based on the fact that its 50-day moving average is below its 200-day moving average, which are popular indicators for gauging long-term and medium-term trends, respectively. Second, each of these ETFs is also trading above its 20-day moving average, thereby offering a near-term ‘sell on the pop’ opportunity given the longer-term downtrend at hand. Note that this prospects list also features a liquidity screen by excluding ETFs with average trading volumes below the one million shares mark. As always, investors of all experience levels are advised to use stop-loss orders and practice disciplined profit-taking techniques. U.S. stock markets are experiencing a rotation away from high-flying technology and AI stocks into defensive sectors, just ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Several real estate-focused ETFs like Direxion Daily MSCI Real Estate Bull 3X Shares (DRN B+), and iShares Global REIT ETF (REET A) featured on the sell on the pop list. U.S. home price indexes and select new-home sales gained slightly due to builder price cuts, ongoing low housing supply, and lagging historical data, even as high mortgage rates continued to freeze broader existing home transactions. U.S. Global Jets ETF (JETS C) ranked second on the list. The late-October upward momentum was fueled by stronger-than-expected Q3 earnings and strategic shifts across major U.S. airline holdings. Bond ETFs like iShares Core U.S. Aggregate Bond ETF (AGG A-), Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND A-), iShares TIPS Bond ETF (TIP A) and many more made it to the sell on the pop list. The Bond ETFs saw massive inflows and temporary price rebounds in late October 2026 despite a broader bond sell-off earlier in the month, driven by stock market volatility and safety seeking as tech stocks slid. iShares 1-3 Year Treasury Bond ETF (SHY A-) also made it to the list as investors crowded into short-term cash-like Treasuries as a safe harbor during market volatility. Many Corporate bond ETFs like Vanguard Short-Term Corporate Bond ETF (VCSH A), iShares Short-Term Corporate Bond ETF (IGSB A-), and SPDR Portfolio Intermediate Term Corporate Bond ETF (SPIB B+) were candidates on the sell on the pop list. Corporate bond ETF prices gained in October 2026 as easing rate volatility and strong investor demand for steady income pushed fixed-income markets higher. Compare and contrast the two ETFs here Tesla focused funds like T-REX 2X Long Tesla Daily Target ETF (TSLT A-), Leverage Shares 2X Long TSLA Daily ETF (TSLG ), and Direxion Daily TSLA Bull 1.5X Shares (TSLL A-) were sell on the pop contenders on better-than-expected Q3 financial results, Barclays upgrade, as well as, persistent market buzz around SpaceX merger. Volatility Shares 2x Long VIX Futures ETF (UVIX ), iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (VXX A-), and ProShares VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (VIXY A) were also present on the list. The Cboe Volatility Index (VIX) rose last month, moving from roughly ~16 at the start of the month to above 21 by early November driven by a convergence of tech and AI-related stock sell-offs, disappointing corporate earnings, and U.S. midterm election uncertainty.
